How to use these bookmarklets:
- You must be using a browser that supports 'keywords'--that is, the ability to define a bookmark that can be accessed with a keyword entered in the location bar of the browser. Firefox and Mozilla have this capability.
- Right-click (or whatever your OS equivalent is) on the link for each one and add it to your bookmarks. Your browser may ask you to file it right away, or you may need to do this later.
- 'File' the bookmark--add a name and a keyword to it.
- Once the bookmarklet has a keyword, you use it by typing its keyword, followed by a space, followed by your parameter--normally whatever you wish to look up. If you've set the keyword of the card price bookmarklet to be 'price', enter 'price mahamoti djinn' into your browser's location bar to look up the price of a FatMoti.
- DCIrank
- Looks up DCI ranking. Currently this works without a parameter--it'll look up the DCI number '00000000' if you don't give it another number. You might want to change '00000000' in the JavaScript (which is in the 'location' field of the bookmark) to whatever your DCI number is.
- MTG card price
- Looks up the price of a card in the magic-traders.com listing of eBay card prices. (Monthly, non-foil.)
- MTG foil card price
- Looks up the price of a card in the magic-traders.com listing of eBay card prices. (Monthly, foil.)
- Gatherer lookup
- Looks up a card in the gatherer.wizards.com database. This is the link to the card description itself, so better suited to looking up exact cardnames.
- Gatherer search
- Looks up a card in the gatherer.wizards.com database. This is better suited to searches. I might rewrite this at some point to take more parameters (fields, filters, etc.)--right now it's just a simple keyworded href without JavaScript.
- MTG Card
- Looks up a card in the wizards.com 'autocard' window. Should be exact, but I've noted that occasionally just the first word will work (e.g. Takeno).
- Consolidated card price
- Looks up card price in five iframes, for magictraders.com monthly, magictraders.com foils, magictraders.com weekly, cardshark.com, and starcitygames.com.
